1. Swap or Clean Your Air Filter

Think of your filter like a pair of socks. After weeks of wear, it needs swapping or a good wash.

  • Disposable filters: toss and replace.

  • Reusable filters: rinse with mild soap, let dry, then pop back in.

A clean filter means better airflow, fewer dust clouds, and happier lungs.

2. Give the Outdoor Unit Some Space

Your AC lives outside in a little metal box called the condenser. It needs room to breathe.

  • Brush away leaves, grass clippings, and stray toys.

  • Gently rinse the fins with a garden hose (inside out).

  • If fins are bent, straighten them with a fin comb or ask us to help.

Clearing that space helps your unit cool faster and work less.

3. Test Your Thermostat

Your thermostat is your home’s brain. Make sure it’s thinking clearly.

  1. Change the batteries.

  2. Use a small room thermometer to check accuracy.

  3. If it’s off by more than 2–3°F, give us a ring.

An honest thermostat keeps your house just the right temperature.

4. Listen and Look for Trouble

Turn on the AC and walk through your home:

  • Listen for odd sounds: grinding, squeaks, bangs.

  • Feel the vents: is the airflow steady?

  • Watch for leaks or frost on line pipes.

Spotting small problems now can save big headaches later.

5. Seal Up Leaky Ducts

If you feel less air coming out of certain vents, the ductwork might be sneaky-leaking.

  • Tighten any loose connections you can reach.

  • Seal small gaps with foil HVAC tape (not regular duct tape).

Better seals mean more cool air inside and less money wasted.
